Creepy guy! No soul and pure evil!

Oh GOD please tell me you are not going in with Hot Talk LA and that they paid for that commercial?

If you have to affiliate for strength in numbers, can't you go with Carolla?

Although, it could just be a deep cover con for you to bring me the head of Ryan Wong. I guess I will just have to wait for the pants of Leo Laporte until the next Podcast expo.

Arnold looks different today.

Sorry bout that marc, that was my fault. I sent that guy to "remind you" that 5min podcasts are simply not acceptable and to "encourage" you to NEVER cancel the podcast again. I guess he misunderstood me and took the words "remind" and "encourage" to mean "punch marc dead in the face." All apologies.

Also, why in the hell are you shilling for The Pretty Good Podcast? They should shill for LBFM those no talent hacks. Thats tantamount to Peyton Manning doing a commercial for jamarques (spelled wrong but f-him) russell jerseys. Tod, maybe you need to start making the critical decisions over there! Im just saying.

December 18, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterpolly

Jmarcus Russell's name must never be spoken of on this website.

December 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterTod

Why has The Todbot stopped tweeting? I enjoyed "his" succinct, monotone updates. Todbot has more humorous content in him than the entire HotTalkLA network.

December 18, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterpolly

I think Todbot is offline for maintenance. Artie was dispatched to capture him after he was found outside the home of a young female Sea World employee.

I am scared at the lack of a Hot Talk LA denial, this better be a play to get in the Grad Panties - the Granties? I thought she only had a taste for chocolate love?

I was browsing my library today and realized in my mind the soundtrack of fight club runs when I think of what Salwin gets up to. I had something else to say but am more than a little buzzed. But for sure, even that last 5 minute episode had more content and funny than en entire week of PGP

December 18, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterlaxdude

Why are you guys such haters of PGP and Hot Talk LA? It's like some of you are waging a holy war or something, and everyone has to be either with you or with them. In the words of MST3K, it's just a show. You should really relax.

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterWilliam

Actually, I'm starting to wonder if you guys are part of the same group of people that deposed Marc on the original Carolla board. You take your radio/podcast shows WAY too seriously.

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterWilliam

One last thing: it's obvious Marc and Tod like the people over at HTLA, or they wouldn't show up at their events. Put THAT in your bong and smoke it.

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterWilliam

William once again fuels speculation that he is Randy Wang.

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJonathan

I DO take my podscasts seriously, i spend 8 hours out of my day, 5 days a week listening to them at work to keep from killing myself out of boredom and monotony. So yeah, im pretty serious. HotTalkLa, while im SURE a fine 'network,' offers vanilla, content. If LBFM (my favorite podcast and the ONLY podcast i actually cease and desist working in order to listen to) goes the HotTalkLa, i fear their unique content and delivery will be compromised. PLUS, they'll sacrifice the atmosphere of The Barn (actually the 4th 'character' on the show) for RANDY WANG's fucking living room and (to my horror) they'll have him chimimg in all the time.

I've listened to most of the shows on HotTalkLa (i steadfastly refused to listen to the kasey kasem podcast, id rather slit my wrists and drink my own blood til i die) and they offer NO content. NONE. I'm sure they're all nice people but as for comedic genius they fail miserably and, even worse, they're BORING. The PGP is atrocious, i dont give a SHIT what Randy Wang and Gina Grad did on Friday night, what's on their iPod's or what listener Randy is trying to screw. AGAIN, nice people im sure, but i dont want the GENIIUS of my FAVORITE PODCAST put in jeopardy.

If LBFM needs money for equipment, ask the listeners! Put up a donation link, sell LBFM merchandise. We'll buy it! Hell, i'll send them whatever money they want every damn week if they need it. Just dont compromise your work for the supposed safety (in numbers) of HotTalkLa.

As for William's jihad comment....well Lax HAS asked for the head of Randy Wang so maybe he's on to something there.

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterpolly

Um, it's not a requirement of Hot Talk LA that you record your podcast in Randy Wang's studio. It's just that most of those shows don't own their own equipment.

And if you want to drink your own blood, there are much better ways to do a bleeding than slitting your own wrists. That's both messy and dangerous.

Really John that's not what I heard, I wont name my source but she knows who she is, my source also said this would not be happening, I'm guessing it's part of a bizarre joke, maybe the xmas show will be some big "we've sold out" thing where they pull one over on the audience as they love to do.

William Beumont can fuck off, go whine about nebulous bullshit on the other boards you frequent, you're like the herpes sore of LBFM.

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterGiovanni G.

"to do a bleeding" HAHAHAHA! That's probably a course offered at Das Bunker (2 credits)

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterpolly

You see? This is the mental illness I'm talking about. I get called all kinds of horrible insults here just because I like a show that other people don't like. For Christ's sake, people, it's a SHOW, not a church! Isn't this supposed to be fun?? Apparently not. "The Internet is serious, serious business, and don't you forget it, bitch."

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterWilliam

William I don't like you because you exhibit the same antisocial "wet blanket" behavior you did on the ACMB, you then went to the ACP site and "reported me" there in the comments section of my episode, in an effort to "tattle tale" on me to Adam or Cioffi or the audience in general, thinking it would come as a surprise I offered to punch someone, in an effort to what "get me in trouble?".
Why would you do that William, why would anyone care and what would that do, I wouldn't go back on the show?(you can never dictate that no matter what), that was clearly your goal, that seems like envy, well I don't need that bullshit from you, I'm a fan of this show and want to talk about this show here, how about we keep LBFM stuff on the LBFM site and next time you have a problem with me go tell your mommy about how a mean man on the internet told you to leave him alone.

Nobody dislikes you because you like PGP, most people don't think about you just like they don't think about anyone else they don't know, I dislike you because of your frequent bullshit and quasi stalking behaviors in my direction that I'm not going to put up with, grow up little baby/drama queen, this is the last I'll ever weigh in on this so just drop it dude.(no need for a cool it from Marc, it's cool)

Congrats gents it has been a great year in LBFm, you've provided me with a large portion of my entertainment for 2009, often coming before TV or movies and at times replacing them entirely, without you guys I would have gone insane on the second half of my foot commute each day.

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterGiovanni G.

Uh, G, have you forgotten that you were the one who originally threatened to come to where I live and beat me up because of something I said? How is that not stalker behavior?? There is something very wrong with you that you would do that to someone on the Internet just because they hurt your feelings. It's quite obvious you're engaging in what psychologists call "projection".

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterWilliam

I relistened to this one, what a fantastic ep.
Marc's story was vivid and richly detailed, nice storytelling man, I felt as if I was in Marc's shoes both times I heard it, got that adrenaline rush and everything, I'm glad the cops got him and your work buddies are dicks, I have a feeling Tod would have done some sort of leap attack/maneuver if he witnessed it, who knows what John would have done and Cioffi would have just further instigated a fight then taken odds and solicited bets on the outcome, guy has a problem.

I heard the Down and out LBfm, goddamn you guys always hate good stuff, first the chicken ep(to the podcast audience) and now this, that ep is solid, it's depressing but it played very funny to me, so yeah nice work on that!

Marc couldn't handle hawaii for more than a couple weeks, out of nowhere you'll get "hard looks" which is essentially what it sounds like and is mostly perpetrated by natives against white people, you'll be any number of places and just be getting shot daggers by some random stranger, sometimes homeless people but for the most not, they'll follow you out of businesses and bars especially.

Out of all the Violent shit I had to go through in hawaii, I did have a few random face punches too, one time I was coming of the number 4 bus and it was raining like crazy, so bad you could only see a little way in front of you and it was like 5pm and sunny too, I was stepping out the back entrance when I was struck in the face by a non passenger strange dude, right in the nose, so as I'm trying to straighten my nose and stop the blood with one hand I'm using my other to hold my pocket shut as the dude is trying to steal my wallet and I managed to get a distance and took off before he could rob me, I remember being so pissed I didn't attack him back or rob him instead or something, it was so odd and I can relate to you even though your story tops mine in oddity.

The last months of shows have been very strong, nice work fellas!

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterGiovanni G.

quoting William "How is that not stalker behavior?

Actually, it is very far from stalkerish behaviour, it is really more anti-social with anger management issues and a willingness to get on an airplane at the drop of a hat. Never enter a battle of wit unarmed my friend. It is about as far from stalkerish as you can actually get.

I know that the guys have a relationship with Ryan, I initially started as a fan of his because he was the guy who fixed the Teddy related podcast fuck ups. Then he goes and dumps all over TACS while filling in for CIoffi on his show on the HD2 station he programmed. Then his postings on the MB outed him for what he is. Whitman, crazy as he is, was accurate when he called him on his aggressive undermining and jealousy.

My problem with PGP is the almost total lack of content or compelling stories, something that LBFM is overloaded with.

My problem with Hot Talk LA, well, first it was started by the douche nozzle liar Adam Carolla saboteur and tool of Jack Silver DeathDog/Nullus/Jack Sullivan - the man who was fired and Marc pretty much replaced as KLSX webmaster. Clearly this is a guy who knows great radio AND just look at that amazing website he put up. That site is so bad it make me want to kick puppies.

Secondly, they put Ryan Wong AND Sam Phillips (tm) in as senior management. That has success written all over it!

Thirdly, the website of doom has two types of shows "Top Talent" and "Undertalent" - that is just fucking offensive

Marc, Tod, John and recurring guest Mike Cioffi, I doff my cap to you. LBFM has become my #1 podcast, above everything Carolla, above everything TWIT, hell, even above This American Life. I bought a freaking iPod just to help you guys out with my $2 iTunes app. As long as it does not involve Paypall in ANY way I am more than willing to contribute, just don't make me buy shit, have an outright donation offer.

Oh, and the 'Bring me the Head of Ryan Wong' is a fucking joke. I stopped listening to their podcast because they have nothing to say unless they have a great guest, like Salwin, Marc or Tod and the chances of talking about KLSX go up dramatically.

Basically, LBFM is too good for Hot Talk LA, I also think they do not fit their LA based demo. If a network is required - which could bring in pooled assets like a CDN deal or adsales - then I think Carolla would be a better fit. But, if for some reason Hot Talk LA is the direction they go, I just hope it has no impact other than getting the guys paid. I just happen to think that hitching your ride to a company playing fast and loose with unlicensed use of commercial music which opens them up to a sizable liability might not be a wise move.

December 19, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterlaxdude

laxdude,
You bring up a great point about the "Top Talent" and "Undertalent" distinction. Who is the fucking marketing genius (and by genius, I mean moron) who decided to split podcasts into these two categories? Think about how many new listeners who stumble upon the website will dismiss all the "undertalent" shows. They might as well say "shows worth listening to" and "shows to ignore". Brilliant.

December 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJonathan

"HotTalkLA is the next generation of no-holds-barred, raw ''FM Talk'' brought to you by a unique group of friends and co-workers from the former FM talk station, 97.1 KLSX, Los Angeles. Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, THIS is the rebirth of hot talk radio for an Internet-based media station! Welcome to our new home and enjoy our entertaining, talent-driven podcasts brought to you by the brightest personalities in the L.A. scene!"

And you want to be associated in any way with this aural holocaust??

December 20, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterpolly

That is just bad press release copy, and can be excused. It is who they have runing the place and the overly busy 'pile of website' they use to promote themselves. I can not imagine any designer with the gift of sight would creat a website that was such a hot mess.

I just hope this news that Marc tweets about is great news. I am slightly aprehensive, but have confidence the guys know what they are doing - just as long as it is not him packing it in again. In that case, I take Gio up on his offer of cheap air fare to pay the barn a visit and MAKE them do a show, if only for me. "Does this rag smell like ether?" It is presumptive of me to dislike people I have never met based on their radio persona. But, what the hell, that is what the internet is for...jumping to conclusions.

December 20, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterlaxdude

I don't think they're going to hottalkLA, seems unlikely, I have a source(not cioffi and not the possum either) who said it was not happening even though the offer had been made(of course it had, LBFM is a superior product) then rejected, "she" seemed to know her shit and was on the level, unless hottalk has come crawling back with some offer they can't refuse I doubt they would make such a short sighted move.

LBFM is destined for great things it would be a shame to have the albatross of mediocrity stuck to the show for all time, shit might do what Sobel, Seena and "the whining" couldn't do and ruin the show.

I'll still be listening no matter what or at least until it becomes too unbearable if Lax's hunch is correct.
