Predictions for 2010 and Tod's NYE Party

Tod, Marc and Salwin go over their predictions for the new year, as well as some predictions laid out by the reputable prognosticators at CatholicPlanet.com. Plus: Tod's quasi-fictional New Year's Eve 2010 Party.

My name is Laxdude. My favourite colour is red. The PGP shirt BURNS LIKE POISON.

For 2010 I predict a further malaise as Obama's approval ratings plummet as people realize he has done nothing of substance different, policy wise, than GWB except sign a giant tar ball health insurance reform act of hurt, pain and spending. I also fear a massive crash of the US dollar as it is abandoned as the worlds unofficial currency, so expect any imported item to quadruple in price as the dollar devalues. This will lead to a disastrous midterm election for the democrats which will put in equally ineffectual republicans. I predict a STRONG presence of a third party centrist presidential candidate that will be the beginning of a new political party that has a mix of old time core democratic sensibilities (highly structured regulations and socially responsible) and core republican ideals (fiscal restraint and non-interventionism) that creates a new currency and wipes clean the federal reserve system for a fresh start. I predict Obama for a single term, I predict un-named repubican for a single presidential term, and then a centrist president...in what, 2018?

By that time China will either have had a massive war, likely invading Siberia, which they will retain despite trading a limited nuclear exchange that results in an uneasy ceasefire with the Russian federation or will be fragmented by civil war.

Oh, and of course the anti-christ shall rise to power and unite Europe which will lead to the rapture.

I also agree with the Catholic prophecy. Europe is already falling to the rising Islamic tide. Holland falls first, then Italy and France. This will lead to a "Troubles" like volunteer Christian militia guerrilla war campaign that the new non-interventionist US government shall rebuff. But, it will take a while before the Vatican is besieged and razed - I say 2030ish which will probably lead to WW3 after a defending country goes nuclear.

Then India shall rise as the next global super power.

Mind you, I only ever plan for the worse to happen, then I can be pleasantly surprised when things always seem to work out with relatively little change.

HUGE update to the app!

Thank you so much. As a touch user, I hate to say that I had to record the bonus content to my Mac via the headphone to line in so that I could sync the content - might still have to do that for the wife. But now you can download content within the app, so that you can go out and about without battery sucking WiFi being on.

Also, the iPhone OS is ridiculous with the not allowing background apps.

The shirt is like POISON, it BURNS!

I predict Marc will use a coaster at Tod's house on NYE.

I predict Marc will be asked to keep it down a bit on NYE.

I predict John will show up at Tod's, refuse to use a coaster and be thrown out back with Marc who won't settle down.

I predict Marc, Tod, & John will all end up out back and wake the next morning cuddled up in one sleeping bag.

I predict Gio & William will meet up in Chicago, berate each other ferociously for hours, and end up having drinks and laughing through the night.

I predict no one will give a shit about health care in 2010 - who has it and who doesn't - and will push for the legalization of MJ in the midwestern states to ease their winter woes.

I predict the nuke meant for NY will miss and hit Illinois and no one will notice for a month.

I predict Al Gore will come out of the closet and finally admit he is a cyborg.

I predict LBFM will be number one in iTunes for months!

I predict there will be a 2010.

I don't get the animosity for coasters - they protect the furniture and are a simple courtesy!

I am still burning from the shirt. Everywhere it has touched me has now scabbed over with what appear to be full thickness burns. I am afraid that I shall need skin grafts and painful rehab. I am typing this with a blow stick. A BLOW STICK!

My favourite colour is green.
My thoughts for 2010: I beleive that nothing of major note will occur in the next year...a sex scandal here or there, British Columbia will go completely bankrupt and will become the new 'Quebec' of Canada (popularity wise), the temperature/precipitation levels will steadily rise along with the amount of greenhouse gases being pumped into the atmosphere (but nothing will be done about it), and Todbot will probably get left out in the rain. Tod will see him there, and scream 'I CAN'T HELP YOU' from the inside of a warm, dry, unlocked house. Marc will have (yet another?) 'episode', and will most likely need some 'breathing space'. He will return on valium, and be a much calmer, saner Marc Chambers. Tod will go about being his happy-go-lucky self when Marc returns, and everybody will pretend that another intern was not just brutally murdered and go on with their lives. A few hundred more celebrities will die of drug overdoses. John Salwin will become America's newest sweetheart and will bring the gasmask into style for suburban kids nationwide, and Cioffi will make his seven yearly appearances on LBFM, during which he will charm us all with his dulcet tones and heartwarming laughter.

The Star Wars program is up and working, my dad used to work on it. Look up Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands, the army has a test site there.

Beth, the so-called missile defense system is kind of in place, it doesn't work though. Mind you, so far the Americans are the only ones who have ever built an accurate and tested ICBM, the Russian ones are not likely to orient properly after crossing the magnetic pole and are will probably hit Canada and just irradiate the United States. Only coastal agriculture will survive.

Korean and Chinese missiles are more likely to be self destructing because of poor build quality and design. So the only real threat then is sub or ship based IRBM and short range nuclear delivery devices - and no amount of missile defense can ever stop them.

First time commenter, listener since early '09.

My favorite color is green, or blue. Depends on my mood. If it's going to be a car that I own, gotta go with dark blue.

I'm doing ok. Kind of a rough past few months, but things seem to be looking up a little. Just gotta keep taking things one day at a time.

I didn't get a pretty good podcast T-shirt for Christmas. I did get a University of Washington T-shirt that I'm going to return because it's ugly, I didn't go to that school, and it's the wrong size. Luckily my step mom bought it at Nordstrom. I'm really surprised that I didn't get the pajama sweat pants that I asked for, I figured my grandmother would have been all over that. The air compressor that I did get will suffice.

For 2010, I predict that my car will either continue running strong, or the wheels will finally fall off. I predict that I will have a job. I predict that my long-running streak of singleness will halt. I predict that I will start listening to the Low Budget live shows through errorfm.com:8005 on my Verizon Droid phone. I predict that this universal healthcare thing will be an insane success, or that society will plunge into total anarchy. I predict that I will get a raise. I predict that I will go to the gym and get buff, or I will continue to get fat.

Been listening since mid 09 finally caught up to current. Threw up recently following the Chargers victory over the Redskins. I enjoy blue. Found LBFM because of PGP, stopped listening to them and love LBFM. What?
