In The Spirit Of The Season, A Special Thanks!

To the listeners and supporters of Low Budget FM,

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you -- especially the ones who've supported us from the beginning -- but also make sure it's known that this has never been a one-, two- or even three man show. Simple and ridiculous as it is, it's also taken a tremendous amount of work and a surprisingly long list of people to write, produce and promote it over the years.

From the days at FREE FM in 2007 all the way through to today, these folks have donated their time, talent and support to our dubious cause. And while you may find it a daunting task, if you've enjoyed the show I urge you to at least skim this list and glance at the names of those that helped bring it to you.

To all of you reading this, and to everybody named below, a hearty thank you. And to a choice few of you, let me again apologize for all that awkwardness. I didn't realize you had a boyfriend.

Marc Chambers
currently six minutes away from injecting heroin into his left eye

thanks to the team at 103.7 FREE FM:

Board Op Elliot
for laughing at our jokes, even if it was just out of politeness, and for shepherding us through our first show ever.

Board Op Jeff
for sitting there stoically not laughing even a little, and then telling me I gave out the phone number too much, during our second show ever.

Board Op Radar
for being our first real supporter in the building, for adding bits of production to our show, for chiming in when we were hurting and for being conscientious enough to tell our fill-in board ops where to find all of our beds and drops

Darcy, our Phone Screener
for agreeing to do a totally thankless job, for dealing with my incredibly arrogant and borderline maniacal rants and raves about production of the show and for rightfully walking out of my life in the aftermath

Jim Daniels, our Program Director
for taking a chance on us

to those who've contributed to the podcast in some meaningful way:
Shannon
for playing the air-headed, gum-smacking Tracy and for going on fake dates with all of us (but not real ones)

Yanira
for supporting us early on and for joining the parade of news fill-ins after John left, for guesting on our Comic-Con live shows and for playing the Denny's waitress in Marc's Date With Tracy

AJ Gordon and Mark Cope
for joining our first live Stickam show as the guys from some charity who didn't seem to care about said charity

Seth Binderup
for voicing our new Listener Mailbag intro as the show reeled from the loss of John and Tod, for expertly playing Braden from Listener Relations and of course for announcing our ill-fated co-host selection as Seth Brady, the host of the 2010 Podcast Draft

Katie F.
for taking an emotional beating on the air, and in life

Valerie Lucas
aka Intern Ashley, the first one to die

Megan J.
for bailing me out of almost not having a show one night by playing "crazy ex-girlfriend Lisa," and for wasting so much of her trip to LA by playing Intern Heather on short notice

Isabelle B.
for playing Intern Madison, the one that bit it while deep-frying the world's largest turkey, despite my assurance that she'd never be forced to appear on the show

Danielle B.
for generally being awesome, for hanging out in the Barn and watching us do the show, for playing a club skank in the Wing-Bot commercial and for playing a teacher in that show where Cioffi read that inappropriate book to kids

Brent Butler
for being so damn cordial, for playing the manager of Applebee's, and for playing Pastor Jim

Noah Kaufman
for, oddly enough, also playing Pastor Jim

Eliana Horeczko
for playing an Applebee's patron and for posting on Low Budget's Facebook so I could look up the spelling of her name

Britt Bickel
for being sorta-cool with all our jokes about her elderly boyfriend, and for not really being cool with us basing a bunch of on-air material on events from her life without asking first (but getting over it... right?)

Grandpa Bickel
for his exemplary service in defense of our nation during the Korean War

Seena
for stepping up and bringing it when the show needed help in a bad way, for showing up consistently even though she typically worked overnights, and for wearing that Spider-Man shirt that didn't quite cover her stomach, and for letting us point that out

Kyle Baugher
for giving us the idea for Cioffi's "album" (among others,) for playing NBA Jam in the barn while we recorded, for moral support, for listening to my bitching about nearly everybody associated with the show at some point and for the beard

our friends:

Mark Malkoff
for the impromptu interview

Gina Grad
who inspired one of our greatest shows, and who never once dated me

Ryan Wong
whom I always gave the benefit of the doubt

Giovanni
for being the unofficial show historian and a huge champion of the show to Adam, Donny and the fans

Dan aka Laxdude
for writing so much listener mail and for believing in us from the first episode to the last

our partners who've helped us tremendously along the way:

Andy from Stickam
for letting us broadcast the highest podcast this side of the Mississippi

Rob from Liberated Syndication
for our fantatsic hosting, for our great iPhone and Android apps, for making Blogworld that much more enjoyable, and for offering to give Cioffi his blazer

The folks at Adam & Eve
your valuable contributions bought a new board and compressors

Rachel from Stitcher
for being an incredible delight to work with, for the sandwich, for the jacket, and did I mention the sandwich?
Donny, Sandy and Kathee from ACE Broadcasting
for the booth at BlogWorld 2010

Adam Carolla
for making eye contact

and of course:

John Salwin, Mike Cioffi and Tod Perry.

they know what they did.

And thank YOU Marc for tolerating, um, shall we say, Tourette's-like criticisms from, uh, certain listeners who stay up way too late and e-mail or post everything on their mind, unfiltered, to total strangers like goddamn effing lunatics. Not that I, ahem, know of anyone like that. I mean, who would do that, who would just shout anything that comes to their hypervigilant brains to the entire Internet, making an ass of themselves? They'd have to be someone with severe social retardation and no self-awareness. Um, yeah.

So props to you for pressing forward with the show in spite of all the setbacks and remaining professional as always. Unlike so many "amateur" podcasts, the hosts of this one, whether it's you, Tod, Salwin, or even Cioffi, have always sounded like they should be on the air full-time, not just writing material, doing voice-overs, or hosting overnights, or whatever it is you fellows do in real life. It's nice to listen to people who are smooth broadcasters without faking it in any way, who don't fall back on phony announcer voices, who are highly knowledgeable and have actual life experience that's interesting, and who can express their thoughts without practically swallowing their tongues.

I've actually attempted, as an experiment, to record myself expressing my thoughts (try not to shudder too much), and it is HARD. Of course, that may partially because of the sort of person I am, but it's also true that speaking extemporaneously is a skill that is not easy to master. I salute anyone who can do it and be brave enough to share it with the entire world. Anyone who thinks that this podcasting stuff can be done by anyone with a recorder and a computer is a fool. Many attempt it, few are good at it. The Low Budget podcast is at the top when it comes to professionalism.

Thanks for all the hard work! The episodes are always creative, funny, and overall just high quality. They are consistently one of the best parts of my week. Thanks

What you guys have accomplished is one of the great unsung acts in entertainment. To fit in the time to do this caliber of work for virtually no money while working your asses off at demanding jobs is exceptional. In any meritocracy you would be rewarded handsomely, but, sadly this is the entertainment industry, so you get next to nothing.

You guys are very generous to give so much. This show is by far the highlight of my workday. I would get by without it, but I would miss it for a very long time. Thank you for doing it.

Also, if I ever get ridiculously rich, I am so financing this shit.

As I type this I am listening to an old FreeFM San Diego show, Tod just talked about how to bootleg wine into a concert in the wake of a fat woman.

I have only ever been a huge fan starting out back in the days of Behind the Unibrow on KLSX HD2 where this guy who had a bad rep from old days of the official message board came back and became a really good addition to Cioffi's overly ambitious plans of broadcast domination. I would like to say I was the fan but that would probably be a slight exaggeration - you at least had three listeners.

Basically Marc became the 'go to guy' to fix problems on the Carolla Show podcast and was a refreshing breath of fresh air in the official and unofficial community who not only was a fan of the show but gave a damn that things got done right. Somehow he saw what I posted and asked were not the deranged thoughts of a crazy man - just a Canadian that was a fan and liked things to work.

Luckily I started to follow Marc on twitter and saw you post the pictures of your early recording gear sitting on a bin beside your kitchen table, if I had to guess not long after KLSX became AMP because I remember thinking and posting that it was new gear for the Carolla Podcast. Unluckily for me it was not for Carolla, it would be more than a year until they reached the quality of the little show you were about to put together, getting that Low Budget band back together. I was in on the podcast from day 1.

What really cemented Low Budget in my heart was when I consistently started watching the live show stream when you gang recorded the week of shows. I probably missed the first show, and I know I bailed on one when I suffered an extreme deep-dish pizza coma. The interaction on those shows was magic - from getting Tod to laugh on camera to Marc realizing he was not paying attention to the show because of the action going on in the chat room. I do believe I even named his band the "Tod Perry Experience", which I stole from the Simpsons I do believe.

The show is now in its third incarnation. While each has been different all have been great. So I want to thank everyone. You have put out product without any immediate reward other than some praise and condemnations from us 'internet people'.

So thank you guys for doing what you did. Thank you Marc for only quitting the show for a week after everyone pulled the rip-cord.

I can only hope for a day when Low Budget is kicking in to your pocketbook in a significant way and you return to the occasional live streaming show. Now that you are once again based at home...I hope it might happen this summer.

To me a day only starts off right when I have a Low Budget podcast to listen to. You have given me so much entertainment, I only wish I could support the show more than by having bought the iPhone app.

Thank you for all the extra effort you have put forth doing a show. So in closing all I ask is "where the hell is my remote?"

I can't believe this is happening...Surprisingly from the "Pretty Good Podcast", I was introduced to this show and I started to love it after listening to it for about a couple of weeks. I was hooked after listening to the "Butt Hash" show. Anyway, the topics of discussion and the interaction of the hosts is what made the magic work for me. I just couldn't help from laughing so much sometimes. Fishcast, listener base getting younger and younger, Tod Perry's comedy songs, John Salwin's pick-up line of the week, Cioffi's Football pick of the week, John's controversial commercials about "Cock in the morning", Marc's desire to have a perfect show but gets foiled everytime. The laughs never end...
Thanks you guys and I hope you all do something that will bring joy and laughter to everyone in the future. In the meantime, definitely gonna listen to "Farout". Keep it real ya'll~ real funny!

Katie deserves the greatest thanks of all.
Her appearance was the greatest of the Stickam shows.

And thank you for Marc's terrible judgment in thinking that would be an enjoyable experience.

Guess I shouldn't produce that Hipster Alert then, huh?

November 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterFreddyT

I guess I should take the opportunity to thank Monkeypants for mentioning Low Budget on the Dameshek board. That was the first I heard about it and I'm not 100% that I would have ever heard the show if not for that. I picked up one of the Yahoo Answers episodes and was hooked.

Thanks for giving me something to look forward in 3 of my workdays every week. You guys really do an amazing job and I really appreciate all of the entertainment. I don't listen to many podcasts, but this one is easily my favorite. Thank you very much. I hope you guys had a great holiday weekend.

After reading the other comments I can only echo the sentiments already expressed. I work in records management in Indiana so you can imagine that it's a daily struggle not to jerk my shitty car into oncoming traffic everyday. Listening to low budget on the way to and from work has helped me to avoid that. I've literally listened to the sandwich shop show 15 times. Thanks for making my life suck a little less 30 minutes at a time. Hope you guys make millions, quit your day jobs, and do lbfm forever.

Even when were doing the shittiest of jobs. I hope you keep doing your show until Marc gets killed by a jealous boyfriend. You guys don't have any idea how much i appreciate your show. THANKS FOR LAUGHS.

This podcast has been a part of my life since I think "Lampidi Stelami Sings the Hits." I'm not as active a commenter anymore, but I listen to every damn episode. You guys rock (and have rocked in all previous formats.) I loved the Stickam shows...even the curious case of Barry S.. (especially when Barry looked at the comments.) Also, everything laxdude wrote is spot-on. He just summed it up way better than I could. The Low Budget Coast Guard sails on.

Also, where's my damned autographed Hite can?!

December 9, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAndy

I forgot that I was going to put up a comment like ten minutes after this got posted, so sorry for the delay!

I wanted to send a quick thank you to you guys for creating the show, keeping it entertaining, and going strong after so much time.

The show has changed so much since I've been listening to it, and it's been amazing being able to see that evolution every podcast I listen to.

So again, thank you for all that you do, guys. Looking at the comments on this thread, as well on every other post, you really do affect the listener's lives, and mostly in a positive way. Except when you did that flippin' rooster sound effect. I wanted to stomp on flowers every time that came blaring through my headphones :)

Keep up the amazing work, I know that this podcast is rockin' the listeners, every show that's released, and I hope that it's finally starting to pay off for the show, in the wallet sense!

For the record, being Lisa and Heather was tons of fun. Marc, I'm impressed with how far you've taken this show; I remember when we first started talking and you were so excited about setting up the recording equipment in your apartment! I've gotten many a laugh over time, and the fantastic catchphrase: "How F'ing dare you."

I feel like Marc tried ecstasy and got on the computer. Awesome combo.

December 10, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterkris

Maybe the eye contact with Carolla was bad..... no new show since?

I love you guys, please press on forward! You've got a fan for life!!!
