NOOOOOO!! First John, now Tod.
Is this some extreme way of distinguishing yourselves from Megaboom? They have 18 people on mic, LBFM will soon have 0 on mic?
Noooooooo!
The opening made me so goddamn happy then you crushed my soul, Marc's heart broken? at least you can still hang out with the guy and talk to him, this is tragic, sorry Marc I know you probably are upset and deserve to be.
Oh man I had this whole plan too, I took screen caps of every bit of itunes promotion and progress I could get my hands on, I printed it out and came up with this whole off air pitch for ACE next time I was out there, I think it was going to work, that effort combined with Cioffi of course. This thing is like a dossier on the show's history with as much info as possible and generous "guestimates" on the amount of listeners.
I had first heard Tod on one or two of the old BTU's, he filled in at least one time and I really enjoyed his presence, at first I was bumped but ended up listening to that episode 3 times in one day then I didn't hear of the guy again until Lax got me into the Lbfm podcast week one, I feel like I really got to know Tod and even though I've never met him and now probably never will I consider him a friend.
I hope you're new gig is nice Tod, you deserve all the success in the world. I don't understand why you have to go, you could do skype twice a week or 1 in studio and 3 skypes a week or some shit, you could do it, I'd pay for a new mic and lax would probably chip in too. Shit look at Cioffi, guy has 74 jobs and is on like 5 shows, you can handle one job, a commute, a wife and 1 show, but that's just my opinion and perhaps it's selfish.
This episode made me very sad, I kept thinking "ok is Tod just giving some long winded apology for missing two weeks? it's ok Tod everybody deserves a vacation.....oh no, this is much worse, no he's just apologizing for missing two weeks, there is no way he's saying what I think he's saying" He was though and I'm at the point I may actually shed gross/sad adult man tears over it and I survived almost daily robbery/murder attempts for 17months without crying over that, this is fucked up dude(s).
You were a C hair away from ACE and life long fame and fortunes as a podcasting pioneer, I can't believe Tod would even for half a second consider KATG a superior show to LBfm, it can't fucking touch it, you guys brought the most unique comedy in podcasting/radio/entertainment for a whole year and I'm going to miss it. I'll keep listening of course but I'll always miss the amazing ol' TP.
I don't know what else to say, I guess it's kinda a eulogy for an on air dynamic I'm really going to miss, it's like losing a friend, maybe worse and that's coming from a guy who has lost all his longtime pals under various circumstances over the past 5-10yrs. Tod you really helped make my day a little better for the past year, it means more than you'll ever know, all the days where TP era Lbfm entertained me on my 10mile foot commute will stay in my memories.
This is 2nd to Adam leaving LL in my book, this is huge and sad, Goodbye TP I hope to hear you on the show sometime at least.
"Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.
So I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.
It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.
Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.
Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
so high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
thank Great Magnet for you, the wind beneath my wings."
Holy shit!
I had cut the show off at the last 6min or so because I was so upset and wanted to type up that long post I even previewed it to make sure it read ok(still fucked up a your/you're, I'm an idiot) I did not hear Tod's line about "Wind beneath my wings" I posted that as my own sincere thought, who could've known Tod would've used it for one of his closing jokes, see man we're that in tune with you guys.
Odd that I changed the god to great magnet and it turns out some great magnet type shit just went down, my mind is blown and I'm still sad, very sad.
Why couldn't this have been a belated April Fool's day joke?! Horrible, horrible news.
This is sad, but I can't say it came as a surprise. The first sign was the death of the live shows, the seventh and final sign was the vacation.
It has been clear for a while that the demands of servicing Princess Perry and their future spawn has forced Tod to change if not grow up. Part of that is not spending 7 hours a week drinking in a barn recording shows.
By the way, the seven signs were
The dropping of the live shows, moving far far away, Skype shows, Sunday only recording sessions, taking the train to the barn, 2nd new job, and then the extended vacation. I probably should have included the party invitation snub somewhere too.
I have known for a long time that 5 days a week was not going last, I just never thought it would be kept up at the expense of Tod leaving.
At least we know that Marc, though mercurial, is committed to keeping a podcast going, I can't say ever got that feeling from Tod, who just seemed that he was along for the ride.
Marc, would you consider posting a torrent of all the LBFM: The Perry Years collection? Or maybe I could just send a donation down and get you to burn them for me.
I am seriously bummed over this but I will continue to listen to the show. The effort that you guys put into the show really is apparent. I intend to talk to Tod on a weekly basis through Facebook, so I hope he's prepared. I really wish him the best and hope the secret May project is great.
I hate to use this oppurtunity to pester you guys again, but Marc/Giovanni can you guys repost/post the old shows? Tod remembering all of the good times really wished I could hear the old shows.
It sucks that we are losing Tod to work, marriage and responsibility but the show has always done well with improv and coming up with new and increasingly absurd topics and bits. Much like Conan, LBFM is often the best when things don't quite work out as planned.
My greater concern is for Edgar. Is Mr. Perry's hectic schedule causing Edgar to be neglected? I mean, moreso than normal?
I assume the Chubby Chasers reunion world tour is also canceled.
This is horrible, but I can't say I don't understand. I'm at least glad to hear the show will soldier on, and I think we can ALL agree that Tod via Skype is better than no Tod at all, I hope he makes AT LEAST 1 or 2 appearances a week.
I agree with laxdude/Alexander can we get a torrent/http post of all the old shows?
uhh Charles I'm pretty sure he's going to be making like 2-3 appearances a year, he's leaving not reducing his input, I thought john was just on a break too but it sounds like he might be gone for good as well, this is all very sad.
Alexander I'm working on gathering them all up, they're spread across multiple drives and folders, will have them all in spot soon.
I'm with Charles--"we can ALL agree that Tod via Skype is better than no Tod at all." I think a skpe hindered Tod has hilarious potential. The problem seems to be the traffic, so Skpe up, sir. We need you regular.
Also, if you choose not to Skype up, then I thank you, Tod, for the countless hours of stunningly brilliant fun. I wish you the best. This show is the first thing I reach for in the morning. It gets me through my commute and into my work load every day. I know you understand how important that is to people.
I have never posted on here before and, up to now, I have just been a passive listener but i felt that this deserves it. I have listened to this show since practically day one and this was my first podcast ever , it has always been great.I, like others, feel like i know you guys even though we've never met.I was deeply affected by this news and was sad to the point that i shed a single tear. You guys have helped me get through the day with a laugh ever since i started listening.I will miss you Tod perry and i feel like im losing a brother.I am hopeful that the show will continue but i know it will never be the same. Thank you todd perry and i wish you all the best.
The photo they reused even makes me sad now, "Ghost AIDS" Perry and Marc as an Orange Eddie Munster, good times never to be had again.........
This episode was bad news but I will continue to press on and listen, keep up the show guys.
Tod - good luck to you and your woman.
Marc - as long as you keep doing the podcast, I will keep listening.
You have at least one fan in the heartland. Thanks for the hilarity.
Is it possible the Todbot is blackmailing human Tod in order to get more airtime?
DAMN YOU TODBOT!!!
Very sad episode. Hearing the San Diego intro brought tears to my eyes. I love you guys and will miss you Tod. Good luck to you.
I'll always be a fan. Press on with the funny, Marc. - We love ya!
I'm concerned we haven't heard from Polly on this. Actually, I don't think she's weighed in since John left us. Uh oh
Tod has gone away
Low Budget is in crisis
We still have Todbot
Man, is anyone watching Marc to make sure he does not do anything drastic?
@Caprise - What about William? I really hope he didn't have any sharp objects near by when he heard this.
The show should have ended with Marc killing Tod because it would have been less sad.
But Conan survived Andy leaving, and so too will Marc.
Does this mean I'm never getting a photo of Romeo The Turtle?
@Alexander I was bummed, but I survived Salwin leaving. Still, the great thing about Tod is that he's a different kind of nerd from Marc, a non-computer nerd, so he complemented him well. When Marc and Cioffi were making extremely obscure geeky jokes referencing XHTML and stuff like that earlier in the week, I was weirded out, since I knew exactly what they were referencing. I felt like it was too much computer nerd talk even for me, and wished Tod had been there. I'll always remember when Tod was proud of himself for shocking Marc with a .NET reference.
Tod, you really will be missed. I loved your improv together. You're right, the best parts were unplanned. Looking forward to seeing what you guys have in store for us next.
